Stockport County's goal scorer on Chelsea's opening day defeat, George Dodd, would go on to sign for Chelsea at the beginning of 1911/12 season and play 31 games, scoring 8 goals over 1 and a half seasons. Stockport's goal is also credited in some modern sources as a Bob McEwan own goal, however, all contemporary press reports I've seen credit the goal to Dodd who scored following Schofield having his penalty saved by Foulke. Originally had John Tait (Jacky) Robertson listed as playing, based on modern history books. However contemporary press reports confirm it was James Robertson that played in this game and Jacky Robertson watched from the stands. |
